Sarasota Is Preparing For Us

RNC Tampa security

The AAF Fourth District meeting this weekend won't have quite the security seen at the RNC in Tampa because our demonstrations will all be professional. But there are rumors about an "Occupy ADDY" sit-in at the hospitality suite.

Sorry, my imagination just ran wild. But then again it IS "The Imagination Conference."

Located at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota we have a great lineup of speakers including: David Grad, Senior Producer at MTV where he blends experience across multiple creative disciplines ranging from acting, writing and set building, to leading integrated brand strategy and executive producing content for film, television, web and social media.  He will be presenting “Who’s on Your Creative Team” at breakfast on Saturday.

Then at lunch we have three-time Emmy Award winner Steve Lance who was the Creative Director of NBC and the entertainment division of Della, Famina, Travisano & Partners. He will give you "Ten Steps to Better Creative."

Tickets are still available to these events as well as the rest of the conference where there will be club management workshops on ADDYs and the new online entry system, communications, public service, and even a very popular one on finances and using Quickbooks. Saturday night will feature “A Crawl to Remember-2” with a portion of the proceeds going to the We CAN - Alzheimer's campaign.

The events all start Friday night. Register for some or all of the conference by clicking here.

Look for more updates in these newsletters on the fourth of each month. Our District website 4AAF.com, Facebook pages and your local club websites will keep you up to date on activities daily.

See you in Sarasota!

Check That Man's Credentials!

District Government Relations Chair Barry Wallace attended the Republican National Convention in Tampa last week along with AAF Tampa Bay President Vinny Tafuro. They will no doubt have some interesting stories to share in Sarasota.

One in 40 Floridians suffer from Alzheimer’s.  That's twice as many per capita as the rest of the country. Nationally Alzheimer’s care costs $200 billion; only heart disease costs us more.  Florida supports research on cancer and smoking related illnesses. NOT ONE PENNY IS SPENT BY FLORIDA ON ALZHEIMER’S RESEARCH! If you care about preventing Alzheimer’s and learning how to cure the disease in those who have it, write your legislators today. Let’s turn up the volume, Fourth District!

Visit www.WeCANfl.org for the latest updates on the battle to cure Alzheimer’s now.

ADDY Entry Gets a Makeover

ADDY A Gold HiResAttendees at the Sarasota conference will be the first in the country to see new ADDY competition entry portal. Launching this year, the venerable competition will see a streamlined entry process that will eliminate the hassles of making CDs and DVDs entirely. Local ADDY chairs will get an in depth review of the new system presented by National ADDY Committee Vice-Chair Jeffrey DeLong. Look for more details online and in local workshops when the 2013 competition opens.
