Happy October!

MarlaI’m looking forward to the Fall and October is one of the best times of the year. The colors change (well, slightly in our neck of the woods), the air is a little crisper and advertising budgets are being reviewed for 2013. What a great time of year indeed. I would like to thank AAF Suncoast for hosting our first conference for the 2012 - 2013 ad fed year. The Imagination conference in Sarasota was filled with education, club management, ADDYs, Imrpov and of course great speakers. A huge thank you to everyone at AAF Suncoast that worked tirelessly to make this conference truly memorable. We also thank AAF Executive Vice President of Club Services Joanne Schecter, for her leadership training, and Jeffrey DeLong, National ADDY Committee Vice-Chair for giving us the first look at the new ADDY online entry system. It's also noteworthy to mention that along with record attendance we had 24 first-time attendees at this conference. They were introduced in a fun District welcome ceremony that featured their amazing creative talent.

Our next District conference will be held on November 30 - December 2 and hosted by AAF Panama City. Please mark your calendars now. We will be enjoying the beautiful gulf view while listening to great speakers, education and scholarship opportunities. We even have a workshop on "How to create an event that attracts 300+ people". And most of all, this conference we will be reviewing our most vital core value, Government Relations. Jack Hebert help us navigate through politics with his fun Jeopardy game in Sarasota. In November, Jack and Government Relations Chair Barry Wallace will walk each club through how to get meetings with our local legislators, what to say to them, how to help them and why this is so important to our industry.

Finally, if you haven't already, keep up with your District friends and activities on our Facebook Page and our newest member benefit, the 4aaf.com website. Here all paid members are featured in a dynamic searchable directory. They can also post free press releases and job bank listings plus get business and save money through member to member discounts.

As I mentioned, its Fall and the weather will start to get cooler, the holidays and ADDY season will be here before you know it. Check your local federation for entry details and log in information. Start thinking about the creative work you've done this year that can win the most coveted creative award in America, the ADDY.

Thank you for being a member of AAF District 4.

Go Fourth!
