It’s a Brand New Ad Fed Year

My year as Governor is off to a great start. All the preparation done during my years as President in Jacksonville, District and National committees as well as positions on the Executive Committee have lead to this. I want to bring the enthusiasm I have for the advertising industry and AAF to every one of our 21 chapters being led by a remarkable group of volunteers. We are different from any other organization because we have a three level, multi-dimensional network of professionals that represent all disciplines of advertising. Our goal is to educate advertising professionals and students, monitor legislative issues, recognize excellence, drive traffic to all businesses, and help build our economy. Your involvement is key to that. Attend your local meetings, get involved on a committee, go to a District conference, share ideas and make friends. I think that like me, you will find it a rewarding experience.

AAF MTV NBC SEP SBV YOU RSVP NOW

Text your friends. The next 4th District conference will be hosted by the AAF-Suncoast September 7 -9 at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota. It features a lineup of speakers including: an MTV producer, NBC creative director and author, and a full slate of club management workshops. Mixing with ad professionals from all over Florida and the Caribbean insures that many more text messages and posts will follow. Think of it as NETFLIX for ADDYs

ADDY A Gold HiResA new ADDY Awards entry site will be launched soon that will be easier to use and streamline the entry process. One of the biggest changes to come is the elimination of DVDs and CDs for broadcast entries. Instead, entrants will just upload video and audio files to the website. Competitions will then be able to easily download and assemble a timeline for playback during the judging rather than dealing with all those discs. This will also make the winning work ready for award shows and social media exhibition. Full details will come when the new ADDY competition site is launched.

wecanfl logoThe Alzheimer’s awareness public service campaign WeCAN Florida continues this year and momentum is gaining around the District. Among recent activities AAF-North Central Florida launched WeCAN in the Ocala market with a kick-off event on July 26 and are enjoying strong media support through Cox Media, TV20, Sapp Cable, Daystar Radio, WOCA and 104.7. Party Hats or Thinking Caps?

EC-and-Carribean-DelegatesPresidents from all of the advertising federations in Florida and the Caribbean met in St. Thomas in July for an intensive two day leadership conference. Governor Marla Lucas, the Executive Committee and various committee chairs led the group through a planning session and idea exchange that gave each club the tools needed to plan a successful year in everything from membership to government relations. leadership-st-thomas-2012The host clubs from USVI and the Caribbean AdFed and the USVI Department of Tourism insured that everyone also understood the importance of having a good time while working.
